Jade Cargill will defend the TBS Championship on tonight's special Blood & Guts episode of AEW Dynamite.
The bout started coming together late on Tuesday night. Cargill's manager, Stokely Hathaway, tweeted one of his press releases noting that not only had would-be TBS Title contender Athena's "#BaddieSearch" application failed, but also Jade was issuing an open challenge for the show:-

AEW CEO and founder Tony Khan chimed in four minutes later, claiming to have put an email out to the locker room:-
Ok, you’re on, sir.I’m forwarding that contract that you just emailed to me to the entire locker room now. Fortunately I’m a night owl.Advertisement— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) June 29, 2022
Then, at the top of the hour, the match was formalised, with Dark and Dark: Elevation regular Leila Grey stepping up:-

This will be Grey's 16th match as an AEW enhancement talent, having lost all of her previous bouts. The 4 March episode of Rampage hosted her most high-profile bout to date, as she stepped to Serena Deeb in The Professor's Five Minute Rookie Challenge series, though Grey's night ended in 58 seconds.
Cargill is 175 days into a TBS Championship reign that has brought eight successful defences thus far. Willow Nightingale served as her last challenger, falling to Jade on the 17 June 'Road Rager' Rampage special.
