MLW's longest reigning World Middleweight Champion Edward 'Teddy Hart' Annis was formerly accused of strangulation resulting in wounding/bodily harm after being arrested on Thursday in Richmond, Virginia, according to PWInsider.

ROH's Maria Manic - who had been dating Annis on and off for a few months - was named as the victim of the act.

Before Annis was detained, Ace Montana - an independent wrestler based in Virginia - posted a video on Facebook where he confronted Annis after leaving a house which was thought to have Manic within it.

Montana stressed in the video that the police had been called and that Manic would be 'pressing charges'.

He also added a blurb for the video which read:

"I literally had to pull my gun on #Teddyhart ?? and throw him out of my friends house?. This piece of sh** literally choked out and physically assaulted Maria Manic and would not let her get help. she texted me I’m in danger never ever did I think I would meet a piece of sh** like this guy who has now been arrested with a felony against him. I don’t think this guy knew how close to death he was. #f***youteddyheart This video is me kick[ing] him out before the cops came and arrested him???."

Annis is currently being held at Richmond City Jail without bail and his hearing has been scheduled for April 22.

Strangulation is considered a class six felony under Virginia law, so Annis could face 1-5 years imprisonment and a $2,500 fine if he is convicted.

Annis was released from his MLW contract in December 2019 and, should he be sentenced, it could be a long time before he steps foot inside of a wrestling ring again.
