Tegan Nox Returns, Attacks Candice LeRae At NXT: The Great American Bash 2021
The Way lost their NXT Women's Tag Team Titles in the process. Talk about revenge...
Tegan Nox returned to NXT for the first time in 10 months last night, distracting (and then attacking) Candice LeRae as The Way defended their Women's Tag Team Titles.
The 26-year-old ended up costing LeRae and Indi Hartwell the belts, occupying the duo's attention long enough for Zoey Stark and Io Shirai to strike, with Stark scoring the decisive pinfall on Hartwell.
Nox then got into it with LeRae after the bell. A fierce brawl erupted, with Candice fleeing to the backstage area while Tegan gave chase.
As expected, this was the culmination of NXT's recent battery charging angle. After hitting 81% last week, the battery appeared on the big screen and finally reached 100% at the Great American Bash, preceding Nox's grand comeback.
Nox suffered the third serious knee injury of her WWE career in August 2020, prompting WWE to book a beatdown angle the following month, with the idea being that LeRae put her on the shelf. This meant Tegan would always have a ready-made storyline to return to once she had recovered - and she jumped into it last night.
As reported yesterday, Nox wrestled Toni Storm in a dark match at this week's Raw tapings. This was her first bout in 11 months.
