The Best Match From Every 2021 WWE PPV
14. WALTER (c) Vs. Tommaso Ciampa (NXT TakeOver: Stand And Deliver 7 April 2021)
Open-handed chops can be unforgiving. They've been known to knock victims into another lifetime, drive the wind out of them or reduce their flesh to hamburger meat depending on who's throwing them. To his immense credit, the former and future NXT Champion took his UK counterpart to the brink for nearly 20 minutes before a soul-shattering chop from WALTER found its mark and blasted Ciampa back into 2016 for the victory.
On a night highlighted by Raquel Gonzalez upending Io Shirai's 304-day reign as NXT Women's Champion, MSK claiming the vacated NXT Tag straps and Bronson Reed emerging as Johnny Gargano's next North American Championship challenger, it was the brutal defense of 'The Austrian Anomaly's throne that had most fans talking going into Night Two.
