The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Of Kenny Omega Possibly Joining WWE

The Good

Kenny Omega’s talent cannot be denied and WWE has the power to showcase it every week to a worldwide audience. That alone is a reason to praise Omega’s possible arrival. But what does he bring to the table and why should fans care?

Omega is the complete package: an outstanding in-ring performer and a captivating presence in front of a video camera. In today’s world, the pro wrestling industry is exposed and kayfabe is dead. Fans know the outcomes are predetermined and that the on-screen personas do not exactly align with the real-life personalities of the people who assume those roles. But when it comes to Omega, the 33-year-old suspends the audience’s belief.

Every one of his strikes, submissions, and slams feel real and the emotion he displays while executing his diverse moveset pumps life into the notion that maybe this isn’t all just an incredibly athletic form of theatre, but something more. Omega has the ability to make his audience believe that the man behind the metaphorical mask is the same person with it off. Like a popular character in pop culture, Omega processes the raw power to make the viewer feel something. Whether one loves or hates him, he brings out the emotion of the audience. It’s a trait Cena has, and with the sands of time running out on Cena’s hourglass, WWE has to start searching to fill that void.

Another aspect to consider is the historical success that those who led the Bullet Club have had in WWE.

Previous leaders include Prince Devitt – known today as Finn Bálor – and AJ Styles. Both men have had tremendous success since signing with WWE. Bálor became a star instantly in NXT, where he won the NXT Championship, and later moved to the main roster and defeated Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in August to become the inaugural WWE Universal Champion.

Styles made his WWE debut as the third entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble and claimed his first WWE World Championship a little under seven months later at Backlash.

If history repeats itself, Omega will be one of WWE’s top stars.
