Granted, this year's Royal Rumble pay-per-view will be rather different; instead of tens of thousands of fans counting down until the arrival of the next entrant in the match, reacting to each shock elimination, and blowing the roof off the place at every surprise return, it'll be a sea of screens in the WWE ThunderDome and some bloke playing POP.wav when Edge makes his (pre-announced!) comeback. Nevertheless, we wouldn't miss it for the world.
The lack of a crowd due to the Ongoing Global B*stard has made many of us nostalgic for classic moments from Rumbles of yesteryear. Edge's emotional entry in 2020 feels longer than a year ago, a decade has seemingly gone by since Becky Lynch took Lana's place in 2019, and Shinsuke Nakamura's 2018 win was a lifetime ago.
