Technically, 'Cult Leader' Bray Wyatt was born onto the FCW scene before WWE remoulded its developmental wing, scrapped the faux reality bit and made NXT a breeding ground for future stars. Both shows were platforms for Bray to show the kind of creativity and personality gimmicks like Axl Mulligan and Duke had only hinted at.

Immediately, people online began taking notice of this sweaty preacher with the southern drawl who had guys like Luke Harper and Erick Rowan doing his bidding. The Hawaiian shirts, the cocksure attitude, the body-guarding behemoths and more all turned Bray into one of the most compelling acts around.

It wouldn't be long before WWE's top brass took notice and wanted to promote Wyatt and his clan back to the main roster. That would never have happened without this new character. Or, WWE might've repackaged Bray into another Husky Harris disaster.
