The Many Faces Of Mark Henry - Ranked From Worst To Best
4. The Nation Of Domination
Mark Henry’s run with the Nation of Domination stands out as his career’s first true high point, but his tenure in the stable was ultimately too short for it to finish higher here. Still, joining the Nation gave Henry a much-needed sense of purpose after returning from injury in late 1997, and earmarked him as somebody WWE had big plans for in the future.
Henry joined as the group’s enforcer in January 1998, and formed a tag team with D’Lo Brown. The duo were regularly seen teaming-up against WWE’s lower level teams, though they never came close to winning the titles. They competed in a multi-team Battle Royal at WrestleMania XIV, but were unsuccessful, and the Nation start falling apart a few months later.
Henry took The Rock’s side when he usurped Faarooq as the group’s leader, but he and Brown soon turned on The Great One. The duo kept using the Nation name and entrance music while working as a tag team, but split-up following an ill-conceived weight-loss storyline in 1999. The last vestiges of the once-dominant Nation of Domination were destroyed, and while Brown soon became WWE’s first ever Euro-Continental Champion, Sexual Chocolate was in Henry’s destiny.
