The Most BRUTAL Wrestling Match You've Never Seen Before

Samoa Joe Necro Butcher
IWA-MS

On a level of principle, you could make the argument that this - technically - is a bad professional wrestling match. Without a doubt, certain icons of the industry would watch it with utter contempt. If the idea of the pro wrestling medium is to hide brutality through a careful, safe dance - to cooperate with the illusion of conflict - Samoa Joe Vs. Necro Butcher destroys it with as much abandon as they destroy one another. The match is not remotely safe. It is worked. Nothing goes awry. But it is as dangerous as the form gets.

"Form" is not the word to use because the match doesn't feel crafted in any way. There is one very obviously planned device early, but it still rules. To set the tone of a lawless fight, both Joe and Necro - after talking sh*t in each other's face - take turns battering referee Bryce Remsburg. Joe throws him out of the ring (and what a bump, incidentally). His services are not required.

They launch forearms. "Here we go!" shouts Eddie Kingston, who is joined on commentary by Dave Prazak and CM Punk. Necro doesn't register Joe's strikes and, where you are "meant" to do it hard but in a safer place, Necro throws his strikes right in the ear. Oddly, it's Necro who does the first thing one would normally associate with the wrestling form. He runs the ropes. He is met with an enziguiri to the back of the skull. After being sent sprawling to the outside, he fails to heed his lesson. Joe confronts him with a suicide dive. Necro, because of course, smashes his head back-first into the guardrail. He takes a powder on a nearby chair. Joe, holding nothing back, kicks the nipples off his t*ts with a barrage of kicks. In one swift motion, Necro rises from the chair and plants Joe with a headbutt. Joe eats two vile chops before grabbing Necro by the hair and cracking him with a series of headbutts. Blood materialises over Necro's forehead. Sickeningly, no blade is used, and if he secretly gigged himself in the back to the visual, Joe hits Necro hard enough to make it rain.
