The New Day Release "Daybreak" Teaser Ahead Of Their Next Move (WWE News)

The former New Day deliver a brilliant teaser video as they get set to hit free agency.

With plentiful rumours and rumblings swirling around their future, the New Day have released an incredibly poignant animated video showing them escaping the shackles of their former home.

Designed and directed by Jonathan Davenport, this video - titled Daybreak - shows two unicorns chained to a wall in a circus. Managing to break from their chains, the two make a break for the exit, passing a bearded ringmaster on their way. Hitting right in the feels, the unicorns take an emotional glance at a third, contained unicorn with a broken horn, who stoically gives them a nod of approval on their breakout. After the two unicorns escape, we then see the silhouettes of the former Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods walking off into the sunset, with two unicorn horns left in their dust.

Of course, the New Day's WWE exit was confirmed in the aftermatch of WrestleMania 42. With WWE making its annual post-'Mania round of cuts, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were asked to take a pay cut to remain with the market leader; a pay cut they refused, and instead opted to leave the company.

While those outright cut after WrestleMania 42 have this week become free agents, the New Day's situation is a little different, and they're believed to hit free agency in the first week of August - as in, at some point next week!

In terms of what's next for the 13-time Tag Team Champions, signing with AEW has been described as a "forgone conclusion". Obviously, they can no longer use the WWE-owned New Day or Kingston and Woods names, and the Daybreak title of that animated video has been taken by some as a hint of their new tag team name. As for individually, Kofi Kingston is going by simply Kofi - his real name - while Xavier Woods is using his Austin Creed moniker.

With the New Day - alongside Big E, obviously - having first come together in 2014, the act would go on to be one of the most successful teams in WWE history, making it all the more shocking when reports of their WWE departure started to come out; even more so when Kofi and Woods only signed new multi-year deals last year.
