The One Thing AEW MUST Do At Full Gear 2020

Darby Allin Tnt Champ
AEW

Darby Allin pinning Cody to become TNT Champion is the one thing AEW must book at Full Gear 2020 because there has never been a more perfect time for the biggest bump of his career.

The 27-year-old was closer to defeating 'The American Nightmare' in their last match than in the draw, as his Coffin Drop would have surely pinned Cody if not for the current TNT kingpin's smarts. This was a tight and on-point story: the up-and-comer had improved since their previous battles and his progress was apparent, though he wasn't quite developed enough to topple a second-generation wrestler who'd spent his entire life in the game and accumulated nine years more experience than Allin. Like before, he'd have to go away, learn, adjust, and do whatever was necessary to prevent the same thing happening again.

Feuding with Ricky Starks and Brian Cage has given Darby further opportunities for growth. While his quest for Cody's scalp has never wavered, Team Taz has presented a new kind of threat. Starks calls himself "too handsome to be hardcore." He is Darby's antithesis, a fellow rising star, and another potential headliner, though Allin beating him in their fantastic 30 September bout showed the daredevil is on a different level at the moment.

Just as Allin is playing catch-up on Cody, Starks is doing the same with Allin.

Darby is yet to go one-on-one with Cage, though 'The Machine' would make an excellent first defence should Allin leave Full Gear with the TNT Title.

Which he should.
