The One Wrestler WWE Need To Push In 2019

Zelina Vega Andrade Almas

A recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter issue saw Dave Meltzer report that while nothing is certain, there's a school of thought within WWE that the company's higher-ups now see Andrade as their next big Latin babyface star. In defeating Mysterio, he could be the one to finally inherit his old mantle.

Sin Cara failed in that role because he couldn't go two minutes without botching, though WWE's decision to rush him onto television makes them culpable in this.

Alberto Del Rio failed because he lacks in-ring flash (and because he's f*cking insane).

Andrade will fare infinitely better, as even though he flopped as an NXT babyface, this had more to do with his rough stylistic adaptation from CMLL to WWE and total lack of character development than anything else. Besides, he didn't have Vega back then, and will be able to unleash his full athletic prowess when working as a good guy. Playing heel almost restricts him in that regard, because while much of his arsenal draws pops regardless, the former La Sombra must hold his moveset back to stop himself garnering too much support.

But regardless of the alignment he ends up playing long-term, Andrade is well-equipped to become a big-time WWE money-maker. Him and Vega have all the tools between them, and on top of this, the crowd already want them to succeed. With All Elite Wrestling bringing spiking competition levels and presenting viewers and wrestlers with a new alternative, pushing them should therefore be a no-brainer.

That isn't to say he should be The Guy, but Andrade must become A Guy by 2019's end. Thousands upon thousands of dollars will be left on the table if he doesn't.
