The Problem With AEW That Nobody Wants To Talk About

Lance Archer
AEW

With so much to balance, a lack of focus has become apparent. What happened to the animosity between PAC and Lance Archer? If Jon Moxley aligned with Death Triangle to build his Revolution main event with Kenny Omega under the stable-heavy mentality, where were Fénix et al. when Mox was getting beaten down for several minutes before that dud of an explosion?

But the real problem is the explanation AEW has provided in canon for this uneven distribution of TV time. If this recent trend becomes an established storyline driver, the ramifications are not remotely ideal.

Recently, Lance Archer, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page - who only joined the company in March - have expressed frustrations with AEW in storyline. Lance Archer complained that he will be presented as a main event-level talent one week before being vanished the next. Scorpio Sky opined that he has been overlooked for the last year of his career, and is joined in this crusade by his new tag team partner, who feels that he wasn't awarded with sufficient pomp and ceremony after an unsuccessful debut. The recently-formed Factory have emerged with a similar mentality, though the "blame" in storyline has been deflected onto Cody at least. That he's a management figure in real life doesn't help, however.

There are two implications to consider. Neither are great. In a predetermined business that holds the power to get everybody and everything over to some extent - and if that scans as hyperbole, remember the top-to-bottom white-hot brilliance that was the month of February 2020, a euphoric celebration of the best of the industry - something or somebody always sucks in this scenario.
