The Real Reason Why Ricochet Wasn't On WWE SmackDown

Here's why reigning Intercontinental Champ Ricochet skipped this week's SmackDown.

Ricochet skipped this week's episode of WWE SmackDown to spend some time with his young son.

The current Intercontinental Champion was given some special dispensation to miss the show, and revealed via his official Twitter account that family was the reason. It's nothing to worry about - in fact, it's a positive thing. WWE let Rico enjoy some home time.

Ricochet is set to defend his IC Title against Jinder Mahal on next week's episode. This week, Jinder stormed into Adam Pearce's office and demanded that he be handed a crack at some gold. That, to regular viewers, was confusing. Mahal hasn't actually won a televised match since September 2021.

Still, it is nice that WWE haven't forgotten about Rico's reign. Fingers crossed he's in line for a push as Intercontinental Champion soon, and fingers crossed time off for R&R with family is something the promotion plans for other workers too.

In a lovely moment, Ricochet said: "A champion not only defends his title in the ring, he defends and protects his family".

There you go. Ricochet is a top pro wrestler and a top father.
