The Rock Announces "Rock The Troops" Special For Spike TV

A tribute show to honor American military personnel.

Dwayne Johnson and Spike TV will be producing an entertainment special called "ROCK THE TROOPS" for US troops overseas that will air on Veteran's Day November 11, 2016. The news was revealed via a press release issued by his production company Seven Bucks Productions and Spike TV. As stated in the press release, "ROCK THE TROOPS" will be a grand scale music and entertainment event to celebrate and entertain deployed US Troops serving overseas. The Spike Original Special will be filmed at a Military Base overseas, location to be announced in the coming months. The star-studded event will feature live performances from headliners from the worlds of music, movies, comedy, sports and more. Johnson told Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to show his appreciation to the troops: €œIt is so important to me to give back to the troops. I really want to create something special for our boys and girls who are overseas and hopefully we do such a good job that we can do it again and again. I have military in my family, some vets and two Navy SEALs. That was the genesis of that.€ It is similar to what WWE has done with their Tribute to the Troops specials over the last decade where they went to Iraq and Afghanistan to put on shows for the troops. In the last few years, those events were held in the United States and open to military families to enjoy with WWE bringing celebrities in to take part. Perhaps The Rock got the idea from WWE although it seems like something he has wanted to do for a while, so it's nice to see Spike TV giving him the chance to do that. While it's too early to know for sure, perhaps The Rock could call on some of his WWE friends to join in on the entertainment. It's possible they could even have matches at the event, but most likely it would be something where they did promos or met with the troops. It's another great thing done by Johnson, who continues to be one of the most successful actors in the world and also one of the most well liked celebrities as well.
