The Rock May Be On WWE SmackDown's FOX Premiere
Network also wants fewer commercials.
WWE have already named a slew of legends and Hall of Famers for their big SmackDown debut on FOX this coming Friday, as the company and the Network pull out all the stops to ensure things kick off with a mammoth bang. Amongst the names already confirmed for the blue brand's network migration are Sting, Goldberg, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Kurt Angle.
Another icon of the industry may soon be added to that list.
According to industry analysts AdAge, "many other" special cameos are "being kept under wraps" - and one such name touted is The Rock. It's understood that Hollywood's most profitable star could alight in LA's Staples Center, partly to promote his latest vehicle 'Jungle Cruise', scheduled for a 24 July 2020 release.
AdAge also reports that SmackDown could carry considerably fewer commercials than we're currently used to. According to FOX's Executive VP of Sports Sales, Seth Winter, the station is looking to reduce "inventory loads" during SmackDown as an "extra incentive" to younger fans turned off by traditional advertising.
SmackDown makes its billion dollar FOX debut this Friday, 8PM ET/7PM CT.
