Nobody wants to win a world championship in a tag team match, do they? Saying that, I’m sure most people don’t truly care how the championships come as long as they do. Rocky’s fifth championship was won in the summer of 2000 at the King of the Ring event, winning the title by pinning Vince McMahon of all people. Rocky was teaming with The Undertaker and Kane at the event, against McMahon, Shane, and then-champion Triple H.

Whilst it is easy to say that such a match devalues a world championship, the truth is that the belt had been passed around so much over the previous two years that there was little value in it by then. The WWF did a good job of hyping its importance during the build, but when it has been moved around like a hot potato who cares who holds it?

As The Rock held the title aloft that night, he would have cared little. It doesn’t matter who you beat, as you can only beat what is put in front of you after all.
