The Invasion story was mercifully coming to an end at this point, the Alliance eating itself alive and everyone eagerly looking forward to normality returning to the then-WWF. The Rock and Chris Jericho were two important members of Team WWF yet couldn’t stop beating the heck out of each other, although it was a clear picture of how irrelevant the Alliance was that the two hot-potatoed the WCW Championship between them at this time.

Not long after losing that belt to Jericho Rock would win it back on an episode of Raw Is War, 13 days before Survivor Series 2001. The show was all sorts of stacked, with Kurt Angle defending the US Championship against The Undertaker and Edge putting his IC Championship on the line against Test. The WWF roster in 2001 was insane.

The match is yet another great Jericho/Rock battle, with tables shattering in the process. Rocky gets busted open towards the end of the bout, the producers of RAW going for a Steve Austin WrestleMania 13 shot as Rock tries valiantly to push out of the Walls of Jericho as blood streams down his face. The Great One makes it to the ropes, and as Jericho pulls him back into the centre of the ring the smarts of Maivia kick in with a small package for the win.

Jericho lays Rocky out after the match, and things looked bleak for Team WWF. They clearly weren’t, but you know.
