When The Undertaker returned to WWE RAW earlier this to face up to Vince and Shane McMahon, it was the first time in a while that an Undertaker WrestleMania program was being met with groans and questionable hand movements. The Undertaker/McMahon story didn't make sense at all, and the prospect of seeing Taker go up against Shane McMahon just wasn't enticing in the slightest.

The last RAW before WrestleMania marked a total 180 however. The prevailing feeling was that Shane's entire 'falling through things' would be saved for the big show, but after hitting Taker twice with the TV monitors a lightbulb seemed to go off in Shane-O Mac's mind. Shane scaled the turnbuckles and dove off towards the Deadman, hitting him (kind of) with a Leap of Faith elbow.

Up until this point the Taker/Shane program was mild at best, two huge names that had managed to deflate an entire crowd's enthusiasm through nonsensical storytelling. This brawl was a much-needed return to simplicity.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
