The Undertaker Told This Ex-WWE Star To Sabotage His Own Gimmick

One of WWE's biggest legends told someone to deliberately f*ck their gimmick up.

The Undertaker told Brodus Clay to "fall" flat on his face during the debut of his 'Funkasaurus' gimmick in January 2012.

Clay, who now works as Tyrus, told 'Talk Is Jericho' that the legend didn't think he should be playing the character at all. In fact, when 'Taker approached Brodus backstage, he said the WWE rookie should sabotage Vince McMahon's plan and go into business for himself.

Basically, 'The Deadman' asked Clay to accidentally-on-purpose stage a slip on the ramp. That, he reasoned, would force WWE to "scrap the whole thing" so he could "get back to being a monster" on TV again. 'Taker believed that Brodus had the chops to succeed in a big man monster role.

The whole 'Funkasaurus' deal did nothing for him.

Obviously, Clay didn't accept The Undertaker's advice. He went through with Vince's booking, and tried to make the best of a comedy character that was part Flash Funk, part Dusty Rhodes and part Godfather (what a combo that is!).

Hilariously, when Brodus asked 'Taker if he'd do the same thing, the icon said no. That helped make Clay's mind up on the spot.
