The Undertaker's 10 Greatest Wrestling Matches Of All Time
2. Vs. Shawn Michaels (In Your House: Badd Blood)
Going into 1997's Badd Blood PPV, few knew precisely what to expect from the show's 'Hell in a Cell' between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. Though the New Generation had allowed 'Taker to expand his repertoire to something more reflective of his capabilities - his excellent tussle with Bret Hart two months prior a clear example - history nevertheless suggested a hokey gimmick match, particularly with the phantasmic spectre of the impending Kane looming large.
And indeed, the long-lost brother did make his debut that night, tearing off the door to lead Undertaker to his demise. But this astonishing piece of theatre only added to the blistering bout which preceded it. The DX man was very much the trapped rat to 'Taker's stalking cat, literally chased from post to post and forced to scamper up the side of the structure.
The small fall he took - and the mesmerising mid-air blade job after being launched into the cage - would look tame compared to the sequel, but they told a much stronger story beyond simple brutality. Literally, bloody brilliant.
