The Undertaker's 10 Greatest WWE Mind Games

5. The Undertaker Laughs At Your Attempts To Burn Him

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmxnXQVjaNQ The Undertaker and caskets have been linked to each other since the Deadman first appeared in WWE. So it is only fitting that he use those symbols of death to play mind games on his opponents€and for his opponents to try to use them against him, too. On two occasions, The Undertaker€™s opponents have not only sealed him in a casket, but have also tried to burn him while he was locked inside. This was attempted by Kane (at the 1998 Royal Rumble) and then by Randy Orton (at No Mercy 2005). In both scenarios, Undertaker€™s enemies locked him in the casket, poured gasoline onto it, and lit it on fire in an attempt to burn him to death. The goal of these segments was to show that the Undertaker€™s opponents were willing to go to any lengths to destroy the Undertaker but, alas, they failed in both instances. By showing the entire casket on fire, it was suggested that The Undertaker was burning inside. But when the casket would be openedit was revealed that the Undertaker had disappeared. They were excellent moments of storytelling and really improved the storylines. The supernatural nature of The Undertaker's character would suggest that he cannot be harmed even by the most indiscriminate of forces (fire), and that he was always in control of the situation, even when all evidence pointed to the contrary.
