11. WWE World Heavyweight Title: The Undertaker Vs. Hulk Hogan (1991)
"Hulkamania is dead. Long live The Undertaker!". In terms of historically significant matches in The Undertaker's career, this is probably in the top five. In terms of being a good match, it's disappointing. That's no surprise because Hulk Hogan wasn't known for having good matches very often anyway. It was about a year after The Undertaker's debut with him in the spot as the challenger to Hogan's WWE Title. Up to that point, Undertaker was built up as this unbeatable monster that was rarely knocked off his feet and was difficult for any normal man to slow down. There was a big moment late in the match where Undertaker nailed Hogan with the Tombstone. Hogan popped right up from it, which was unheard of at that time. I remember being shocked by it back then and still am now. Hogan looked like he might finish things off, but that's when Paul Bearer distracted Hogan and Ric Flair showed up. Bearer grabbing Hogan's leg, which probably should have led to a disqualification, but that didn't happen. Undertaker hit Hogan with a Tombstone onto a steel chair (which Flair had put in the ring while the ref was distracted). Hogan's head didn't come close to the chair, but it's the thought that counts. It was the first WWE World Title win of The Undertaker's career. Sure it was tainted and it wasn't a great match, but it was a huge moment for him.
