4. Vs. Batista - WrestleMania 23

Expectations weren't particularly high heading into Undertaker's challenge for Batista's World Heavyweight Championship.

Batista had proven himself more than capable of being carried, and 'Taker had long since cemented himself as one of the greatest performers of all time - but Batista's quality, much like his former Evolution stablemates Triple H and Randy Orton, was conditional. He shared a curious anti-chemistry with more than one opponent, perhaps owing to his homogenised, in-house developmental system-honed style.

'Taker and Batista smashed those expectations with as much force as they smashed each other in a match which electrified the audience with an immediacy and unsustainable pace - which they somehow sustained and escalated in a fight more reminiscent of a heavyweight boxing match than a traditional WWE main event.

There were no reversals, there was no no patented "WWE Style" methodical build; 'Taker and Batista went move for move at a blistering canter in a proper clash of the titans. They looked like and performed like monsters out there, destroying the ringside area with an awesome running power slam spot.

'Taker won with just one Tombstone piledriver. It wasn't a finisher kickout festival. This full-on heavyweight title bout needed just one knockout blow to end it.
