What Gonzalez was meant to be was anyone's guess. He would make any Superstar's 'weirdest rivalry' list. Gonzalez made his debut at the 1993 Royal Rumble where he eliminated Taker, who was then the nemesis of Harvey Wippleman, from the Royal Rumble match despite not being an official participant. This would start a rivalry that would somehow be worthy of a slot on WrestleMania IX. Taker had beaten Wippleman's protégé Kamala twice which made the manager bring in the giant, who was billed as eight feet tall and weighed around 460 pounds. The match itself was a brief affair, Gonzalez lost by disqualification after he knocked out the Undertaker using chloroform. The pair would meet again at SummerSlam where Taker would once again win.
