Big-time WWE reunion scrapped due to lockdown?

Paul Ellering has claimed he was set to return to WWE for a reunion with AOP prior to the ongoing global health crisis kicking in.

Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Ellering said an idea to bring him back to the promotion was shelved when the world started locking down as a result of all that's been going on, with Rezar's March injury also contributing to the postponement.

Ellering would have been working with the former Authors of Pain again. There's no word on how he'd have been integrated into WWE's programming, though the duo's affiliation with Seth Rollins raises interesting questions on that.

Akam and Rezar have been acting as Rollins' heavies since last year, though the former was pulled from television following news that his partner had suffered a suspected torn biceps and would miss between 6-8 months of action.

A WWE Hall-of-Famer, Ellering is best known for his time managing the Road Warriors/Legion of Doom in the '80s and '90s, and returned to WWE with AOP at TakeOver: The End in June 2016. He served alongside the burly duo until April 2018, when he was quietly written out.
