Sonya Deville has told Ryan Satin's 'Out Of Character' podcast that she called up Vince McMahon to request more promo time on WWE TV.

This happened when Deville was still teaming with Mandy Rose as 'Fire & Desire' a few years ago. She'd been cast as a rugged ex-MMA fighter who was very much more action than words, but that didn't sit well with Sonya - Deville knew she'd "bring that intensity and legitimacy to the microphone as well" if McMahon gave her "one opportunity".

The problem was that Sonya had also caught wind from creative team members that Vince didn't view her that way. So, she bit the bullet and got him on the phone.

Their conversation was a brief one. Deville asked for a speaking skit on TV soon, and McMahon replied: "OK, thanks" before hanging up the phone. Then, when Sonya arrived at work the next week, she found out that she'd be part of an eight-minute talking bit with Mandy in-ring.

That one promo changed the direction of her WWE run completely, and actually led to Vince viewing her as more of a talker than a wrestler.
