7. FTR Manage To Leave WWE Before Being Turned Into Clowns

The team once known as The Revival had already just about survived some rather embarrassing treatment whilst working under WWE contract.

But 'Ucey Hot' nonsense and getting completely buried by an ageing D-Generation X paled in comparison to the utterly humiliating mess that was heading their way towards the end of their run with the company in early 2020.

As Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler would eventually recall on Talk Is Jericho (via Newsweek), the latter laughed out loud when Vince McMahon pitched the tag team a new gimmick involving the pair dressing up in garish costumes, boasting "Shatter Machine" chains, and silly hats.

Ever the pros, after openly admitting that this idea was a bad one, Dax and Cash agreed to go full clown for the remainder of their contract time. But they would then very much be leaving at the end of their deals.

Wheeler even felt that the plan on paper - of the two dressing up as a ridiculous comedy act out of spite, angry at the fact tag teams had to become comedy characters to get any WWE TV time - wasn't completely terrible. Whether it would have actually been executed well, though, is doubtful.

Thankfully, the pair were never put in that potentially disastrous position. WWE pulled them from the product a few days after this bizarre meeting, and the eventual FTR finally departed the company a few months later.
