Title Changes Hands On WWE NXT Stand & Deliver Kickoff Show
The NXT Stand & Deliver Kickoff Show just hosted a major title change.
Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai are the new WWE NXT Tag Team Champions, having taken the belts from Toxic Attraction's Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne at today's Stand and Deliver event.
The match went down on the Kickoff Show. Kai and Gonzalez, whose reunion effectively made the match on this Tuesday's episode of NXT 2.0, scored the victory following interference from Wendy Choo. Choo threw a drink in Dolin's face to neutralise Gigi on the outside, allowing Gonzalez to take control of Jayne in the ring before scoring the pinfall.
Choo had been involved in the storyline through her existing issues with Toxic Attraction. On Tuesday, the Mandy Rose-led crew trashed Choo's property, making this an act of revenge.
Dolin and Jayne's reign ended after 158 days. The duo had held the gold since October 2021, when they felled Io Shirai and Zoey Stark, and defeated Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta in their only successful defence on 15 February 2022.
Kai and Gonzalez, meanwhile, are now two-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champions. Named the inaugural title-holders in March 2021, their first run lasted less than 24 hours, as they were unseated by Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart on the same night.
