TNA: 4 Ways To Improve The X-Division

3. Cool Down On Ultimate X

Rashad Cameron TNA

I used to love the Ultimate X matches. I would get excited when they would announce one. Now, I€™m never surprised when they have one. I don€™t get that excited when they have. They have done them too much. The first Ultimate X match was held in 2003, since then there have been 30 Ultimate X matches. That€™s a lot! Unfortunately, the Ultimate X match has kind of been dumped in the same boat with WWE€™s Elimination Chamber match. I used to get super excited for the Chamber, but now, I know there€™s going to be one every year, I know what month it will be, and sometimes they€™ll even be two of them in the same night! It takes away the surprise and the special feel of the match, for me at least. I would much prefer if they save the Ultimate X for big, special occasions. There have been 6 Ultimate X matches on regular, free TV. There has been 1 on a house show/live event. And even 1 on The Best Damn Sports Show Period! If I were somehow running only the X-Division apartment in TNA (I like to think that they have several people working super hard for storylines and matches for each division. I don€™t know why, but I do. Lay off me!) I would have Ultimate X matches very sparingly. So that when they announce an Ultimate X match, it will get people excited. I feel like Ultimate X has become a match for TNA to fall back on. Instead of making it special, they throw it out there if they have nothing better to do.
