TNA Reportedly Close To Being Sold
But who are the buyers?
After months of speculation, it appears that TNA is finally on the verge of being sold. Dave Meltzer noted today on Wrestling Observer Radio that the sale is "coming to a head."
No word yet on who the buyer is. Billy Corgan recently became a minority owner of the company, but is not believed to be in the running to take over. The likely suitors are rumored to be Aroluxe Marketing (where Ron and Don Harris work) as they've sunk quite a bit of money into the company to help cover costs lately. An unnamed cable company, and a company that specializes in troubled assets are the other potential buyers.
This should be great news for the talent and the production team, who have all missed paychecks over the past year. There was also the scary situation of Slammiversary almost not having the funding to go on the air a few weeks ago.
There is no word yet on what this means for Dixie Carter. She had remained adamant in the past that she remained majority ownership in any sale, but the increasing financial troubles may have left her with no choice.
It's probably a good a time as ever to sell the company, as they just received their highest ratings so far on Pop TV. Maybe the buyer will believe that things are on the upswing.
No matter who buys TNA, hopefully this will finally end their money troubles, and they can move on to the next chapter.
