TNA Still Faces Hurdle, Even If New TV Deal Is Reached

Can TNA overcome all of the obstacles and get a new TV deal?

TNA will soon be without a national television deal after news broke last week that Spike TV isn't interested in renewing the company's flagship program, Impact. After nearly nine years, TNA will seek a television deal elsewhere, but it won't be as simple as finding an interested suitor. According to Figure 4 Weekly, TNA is represented by United Talent Agency, which takes a 15% cut of any deals that are orchestrated. With TNA already in financial trouble without a television deal, accepting a lower offer than they've been given with Spike in the past could prove to be an issue. TNA reportedly hurt their standing when it was revealed that former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo was working with the brand. This week on his own website, Pyro and Ballyhoo, Russo stated that he started working with TNA again in October of 2013, and that Spike TV was aware of the situation the entire time. When Spike TV has been reached for comment, they've sent a response stating that they "don't discuss ongoing negotiations," which may just be a courtesy to TNA Wrestling, as to not hurt their leverage with other potential networks. TNA President Dixie Carter stated on Twitter last week that TNA is still trying to reach a deal with Spike TV.
