Tony Khan Didn't Like THIS Classic TNA/WWE Gimmick

The AEW boss just plain didn't like a current roster member's old gimmick elsewhere.

Tony Khan wasn't keen on Matt Hardy's classic 'Broken' character.

The AEW boss told 'Rasslin With Brandon Walker' that he plain didn't like the gimmick when he first spotted it in TNA years ago. Everyone in the pro wrestling world was going daft for Hardy's creativity and out-there performances at the time, but Khan was "not as into it" as his mates were.

Tony explained that Matt would be cool with him saying that now - it's just honesty from a wrestling fan, and it's not like Hardy is going to lose sleep over this in 2021. He's since moved on to a 'Big Money Matt' character in AEW, and that's something his boss is much more sweet on.

Khan realises that most other fans probably disagree with him there, because there was a lot of love for the 'Broken/Woken' universe and all its silliness. Matt continued the gimmick in WWE for a spell, and even debuted in AEW under that guise before transitioning out of it last September.

Some will wonder why that debut run was allowed to happen when Tony was never sold on the 'Broken' thing outside his company in the first place.
