Tony Khan Remains Tight-Lipped On Recent AEW Controversy

All Elite Wrestling's founder and CEO, Tony Khan, is expected to stay tight-lipped on the controversy that engulfed his promotion following All Out 2022.

Dave Meltzer reports in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that any decisions Khan makes stemming from the 4 September event's aftermath will likely be conducted with minimal fanfare. Khan has stayed quiet on the matter thus far, which isn't expected to change.

The only time Tony has come close to addressing the situation was on the 7 September episode of Dynamite. Appearing onscreen, he announced that the World and Trios Championships held by CM Punk and The Elite respectively had been vacated, making no direct mention of the controversy.

AEW is yet to release an official statement on the matter.

Punk, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks were involved in a backstage brawl following All Out's post-show media scrum. While accounts of what happened varied, it is universally understood that The Elite approached Punk in his locker room following incendiary comments made during the scrum. Punk reportedly punched Matt Jackson at least once, while producer Ace Steel bit Omega and pulled his hair.

Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, and Omega remain suspended for their role in the brawl. Punk and Steel's AEW futures are in limbo. The promotion commissioned an independent investigation into the fight after the event, with further action unlikely until this has been concluded.
