It's no secret that Triple H was barely over before linking up with Shawn Michaels as part of D-Generation X on the 11 August 1997 Raw. Sure, he'd had solid matches against Marc Mero, Rocky Maivia, Mankind and more, but he wasn't quite bothering the federation's top slots.

DX helped reshape public opinion on him. The snooty 'Connecticut Blueblood' gimmick died, and he was able to show more of his personality. It cannot be overstated just how important becoming a degenerate was to Hunter's career.
