Jon Moxley has revealed that he pitched an idea that was initially rejected, but later used in an iconic NXT match-up, according to his appearance on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

The former AEW World Champion discussed a number of intriguing topics on the show, from upcoming bloodsport match with Davey Boy Smith Jr., to his impending Revolution 2021 Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch with current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.

It was while talking about the latter when Moxley revealed that he'd been angling to bring "wild stuff" to fans whilst wrestling for WWE, but found himself not being able to deliver on his promises due to what the company would actually allow.

Going further, Moxley confessed that he "pitched so much stuff over the years", including using a box cutter to tear up the canvas and exposing the boards during a 2014 Hell in a Cell match against Seth Rollins. Yet, on that occasion, Vince McMahon and Triple H apparently looked at the star like he was "f*cking stupid", with McMahon stating that he didn't think people would understand it.

Meltzer then noted that NXT produced a similar moment during a Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano war a few years later, to which Moxley responded to the company's refusal to take things up a notch during his tenure by confessing, "Hunter liked thumbtacks when it was Cactus making him look good and putting him over. He loved thumbtacks back then. Whatever dude."

If Moxley's run post-WWE has taught us one thing, it's that any promise made by the former WWE World Champion whilst under the AEW banner tends to be delivered on. So, expect carnage come March 7.
