With NXT 2.0 in the mud and the Black and Gold aesthetic seemingly coming back, WWE is also on the verge of reviving another revered developmental concept.

Per Fightful Select, NXT TakeOver is about to become a thing again. While there's no word on what the extent of NXT's 2.0-to-Black-and-Gold transformation will be, TakeOver shows will be happening for the first time since August 2021, when they were scrapped as part of WWE's widescale developmental revamp.

Fightful notes that this year's Halloween Havoc event has been pencilled in as a premium live event for Saturday 22 October. This represents a break from the past year or so, during which WWE has largely opted to host its NXT specials on the regular Tuesday night television slot rather than as PLEs (with a few exceptions).

Whether or not that show will be titled TakeOver: Halloween Havoc is currently unclear.

Once considered amongst the most exciting brands in wrestling, TakeOver events were a huge part of NXT's rise through the mid-2010s, though the pandemic had prevented WWE from hosting one outwith the Performance Center/Full Sail University's confines from the COVID-19 pandemic's onset in February 2020.
