Triple H On WWE's Plans For NXT Latin America
The latest on WWE's Latin American NXT expansion plans after TakeOver: Vengeance Day.
NXT chief Triple H gave a customary post-TakeOver media conference call after last night's Vengeance Day show, touching on all kinds of topics from the evening itself, to the brand's new commentary lineup, and new signings like Eli Drake (LA Knight).
International expansion eventually came up, with 'The Game' revealing that WWE still has eyes on establishing an NXT Latin America brand at some point. It'll have to wait, though. Triple H noted that the timing "isn't right at the moment," referring to the ongoing global health crisis and its myriad restrictions, which continue to impede global plans.
Triple H pointed towards the recent Superstar Spectacle (which was comprised largely of Indian wrestlers) as an example of WWE's drive towards localised content. The promotion aims to take advantage of further opportunities like this whenever possible.
Superstar Spectacle was a colossal success for WWE, drawing 20 million viewers in India. Though it wasn't branded as such, the show was effectively a warm-up for NXT India, as WWE works towards opening a Performance Center in the country sometime in 2022.
WWE's plans for NXT Japan are also thought to have been hit by the pandemic, with the promotion halting its expansion last year.
