Could The Best in the World be on his way back to WWE?

The new Triple H WWE regime is said to be open to a CM Punk return in the future.

That's according to Fightful Select, with their WWE sources claiming that the company would now be open to "anything within reason" with Triple H steering the creative ship; if the price, situation and creative were all right, of course.

Going further on the matter of a potential Punk WWE return, said intriguing report also noted:

"Triple H wants to be a success and make compelling programming more than anything. CM Punk back in WWE is compelling programming, but I can't see it being a full-time deal like what he has in AEW, because of exactly what happened in AEW. That's even if he has interest. If he gets a buyout, he may not need to work again."

This interesting news comes hot on the heels of Punk's current promotion of AEW being said to be in the midst of negotiating a buy-out of his current contract in the wake of his infamous All Out press conference comments and subsequent backstage altercation with The Elite.

That development seems to have made an All Elite comeback down the road even more unlikely, paving the way for Punk to perhaps step in-between another promotion's ropes in the coming years.

As Fightful's sources also noted, however, there's a solid chance Punk may not even feel the need to dust off his boots again should he find himself being bought out by his current employers.

But if the former WWE Champion does get the pro wrasslin' itch again on the back of recovering from his torn tricep, could The Game and Punk bury the hatchet and make some more "compelling" WWE television together? Weirder things have happened... this year alone.
