Triple H has described WWE's revamped NXT 2.0 show as "fresh and new".

The recently-retired 'Game', who left his boots in the ring at WrestleMania 38, discussed the third brand's change during an interview with The Athletic. There, Trips blamed the global pandemic for messing up NXT's rhythm ("It was right when we went on TV") and for forcing the company's hand.

Explaining, Hunter said that an inability to recruit new talent made everything feel a little stale. That held NXT back, and it made Vince McMahon question whether or not he should hit the reset button and remould the place as a developmental farm for Raw and SmackDown.

That certainly isn't how Triple H viewed NXT during the show's peak - he looked at the brand as a place for those who might not make it on the flagship programs, either because they weren't what Vince was looking for or because they didn't jive with the creative direction.

'The Game' acknowledged that numbers "have come down" since NXT 2.0 switched things up, but he's excited for the future and thinks people will appreciate the change long-term.
