Two Matches Announced For WrestleMania Backlash 2022 On WWE SmackDown
WWE just added a pair of new matches to the WrestleMania Backlash lineup.
WWE added two more matches to the WrestleMania Backlash 2022 lineup on the latest episode of SmackDown.
The blue brand's show was pre-taped last week (SmackDown's roster is currently over in Europe for house shows), but the episode still turned out to be newsworthy and did offer some build towards the 8 May pay-per-view.
An originally scheduled Raw/SmackDown Tag-Team Title unification bout pitting RK-Bro vs. The Usos has been changed to a six-man tag that also involves Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns - the kicker is that neither set of tag straps will be up for grabs, so it looks like WWE plans to put that particular unification on ice for now.
Roman's Universal belt isn't on the line either, at least for now.
Paul Heyman went above Adam Pearce's head in storyline and convinced the mysterious WWE board of directors to see things his way. There is still time to add in some title stakes before Backlash though.
Elsewhere, former 'Happy Folks' pals Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss will collide one-on-one. They set up their own midcard clash with another in-ring duelling promo segment.
