2. Calvin Kattar Vs. Dan Ige - Featherweight
The July 15 main event sees a potentially incredible five-round bout. Off the back of two impressive wins for both against genuine competition, featherweights Calvin Kattar and Dan "Fifty K" Ige meet in one of Fight Island's best matchups on paper.
At 32-years-old, Kattar is coming in with a 21-4-0 record. The Methuen-born fighter's last venture into the Octagon saw a highlight reel, elbow knockout of veteran Jeremy Stephens at UFC 249. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, Ige is coming off an equally impressive victory over former-lightweight and fan-favourite, Edson Barboza. The split-decision win over the Brazilian firmly established the 28-year-old as a serious contender in the 145 lbs division.
Kattar is the heavy favourite, but don’t let that distract, it's a certain fact this is going to be an incredibly difficult test for Kattar. Ige is on a six-fight win streak contributing to his 14-2 MMA record. With both showing promise as contenders to face Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight strap, there is no doubt both will come out of the gates swinging.
