UFC Star Ronda Rousey Could Feature At WWE's SummerSlam?

There has been early talk within WWE about involving UFC Women's Champion Ronda Rousey at this year's SummerSlam, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The idea is that the involvement would be as part of the 'Four Horsewomen' MMA group which Rousey is a part of. The wrestling link is obvious as 'The Four Horsemen' was of course a faction Ric Flair made famous throughout the 80's and 90's. Rousey's all female MMA version is a homage to that and the UFC Women's Champion has stated on multiple occasions how much she loves pro wrestling. Given that passion (and the fact she admits to watching Raw every Monday) you'd think there has to be a good chance that WWE could make a deal with her to do something at SummerSlam. The wrestling company is keen and this would certainly bring their pay per view some much needed mainstream attention - Rousey is a legitimate star off her UFC fame. The Observer report points out that the UFC Women's Champion had previously expressed interest in doing something at WrestleMania, but the timing didn't work out this year. SummerSlam is WWE's second biggest show and comes from Los Angeles, which would suit Rousey perfectly. It doesn't seem too likely she would wrestle a match, UFC President Dana White previously stopped Brock Lesnar wrestling in WWE when under UFC contract. White is likely to have the same stance on Rousey who has in some ways replaced Lesnar as UFC's main star. She's arguably the biggest MMA brand in the world right now - mixing her up in fake fighting would not be a smart idea from UFC's perspective. As such, a ringside appearance or celebrity spot is more likely. Rousey is also starring in The Expendables 3 this summer, so maybe WWE will get her in under the guise of promoting her film. While UFC won't want their top star promoting a wrestling show, WWE stand to gain a lot of buzz from featuring Rousey, we await further details as any proposed deal progresses.
