UFC's Raquel Pennington 'Wanted To Fight, Not Be Hugged'

At least it wasn't just the fans who felt let down.

Fans were audibly quite disappointed with Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington's UFC 246 three round contest on the night, and the latter fighter has just revealed on Instagram that she felt the same way too.

In her first statement since the bitterly stale co-main event clash went down, Pennington took to Instagram to denounce Holm's use of the clinch throughout their lacklustre fight.

On Sunday, she wrote on the social media platform, "I wanted to fight, not be hugged the whole time but that’s the fight game for you." Clearly, she felt as though her game-plan to stand and throw with the former multiple time boxing world champion was scuppered by Holm's aesthetically underwhelming tactic.

If that wasn't enough, Pennington then took to the Colorado Springs Gazette to further vent her frustrations, saying that "this is a fight I’ve been waiting for for five years and this girl stalled and hugged me the whole time, she didn’t even want to fight me."

Holm has come under fire for her plan on the night. She's even been talked about as having possibly the two most boring main/co-main event bouts in UFC history - with the other snooze-fest coming against Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208.

Where either fighter goes from here is anybody's guess.

Will Pennington be able to bounce back?

Does anyone really want to see Holm attempt to hug Amanda Nunes to death?

We'll find out soon enough.
