The Ultimate Warrior: 10 Most Shocking Controversies
7. Not Moving On From His Past
The WWE version of Warrior's Hall of Fame speech portrays a man who reconciled with the company. In actual fact, Warrior spent portions of the speech clearly still with a chip on his shoulder. WWE had clearly forgiven him for his stinging barbs over the years, but he never fully forgave WWE for their snipes back. Speaking at the Hall of Fame, he repeatedly chastised the Self Destruction DVD in particular. Apparently wanting to avoid naming Vince, he instead referred to "they" as the villains of the smear campaign. The truth is it was Vince who commissioned the DVD, by instead going after "they" suggests Warrior wasn't as tough to Vince's face as he liked to make out. He did however go after other guys, using the speech not as a recognition, but as a receipt to those who bad mouthed him. "I only met him for five minutes and he was an ***hole," he half joked half meant about Triple H. He then added a bit more zest to leave Hunter feeling awkwardly unsure if Warrior was going after him or playing with him, "For spending only five minutes with this ***hole, you sure learned a lot." Warrior also sought revenge on Ted DiBiase, asking if he was in the audience, then telling tales how DiBiase tried to run him out of his territory with stiff clotheslines to the throat. Warrior even attacked the WWE's legal team, sniping about Jerry McDevitt losing to the 'panda people' and saying that they should bring back the WWF. WWE have painted a different picture, but the Hall of Fame in many ways was Warrior taking his chance to attack his detractors to the best extent he could.
