Despite asking WWE for his release in 2004, rumour has it that the door was very much open to him returning to the company later that year. If you believe the stories, it is said that this is all due to Stephanie McMahon, who found him quite handsome when she saw him one day without his mask. Whether this is true or not, he ultimately decided not to return to the company. Perhaps he didn't want to go along with plans to unmask and show off his beautiful face, or perhaps he just sensed Triple H and his shovel waiting for him in Connecticut.

Instead, Último Dragón focused on once again wrestling in Japan and Mexico, putting on some truly memorable matches and racking up several more championship reigns in the process. He is still an active wrestler today, working as a freelancer for All Japan and also passing on his knowledge to aspiring new wrestlers. Hopefully this will continue for many years to come.
