Update On Cedric Alexander's WWE Push After This Week's Raw

Have we seen the last of Gary 'The GOAT' Garbutt?

An odd, odd angle played out on this week's WWE Raw, with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre handpicking Roman Reigns' mystery tag partner for their main event tag match.

The dastardly duo went with a janitor they found limping around backstage. This "Gary 'The GOAT' Garbutt" wasn't as he seemed, however, and pulled out all kinds of flippydoos in a losing effort against the heels, before unmasking to reveal his true identity: former Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander.

According to PW Insider, Alexander wasn't originally supposed to have this spotlighted moment. They claim that the company originally intended to use a local enhancement talent in the spot, but a pitch was made to get Cedric involved later in the day. On top of this, WWE intend on having a follow-up angle on the post-Extreme Rules episode of Raw, so keep an eye out for that.

That this angle was seemingly thrown together at the last minute suggests that WWE haven't exactly thought Alexander's push out, but anything should be considered positive for him at the moment, given his lack of usage since being brought up to Raw in the Superstar Shake-Up.
