There was some potentially troubling news emerging from this week's episode of AEW Dynamite, as it was revealed that Cody Rhodes had suffered a slight tear to his left rotator cuff while teaming with Lee Johnson to face Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi.

'The Prince of Pro Wrestling' had taken what looked like an awkward bump as the match neared its end. Though Rhodes sold the injury for the rest of the clash, it wasn't clear if it was a work or not.

It wasn't.

Per Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Cody is, indeed, hurt, having suffered the injury when Bononi hit a suplex on him. Fortunately, he isn't expected to miss much ring time as a result of it, if any at all.

This will be of great relief to All Elite Wrestling, as Rhodes is currently booked to team with Red Velvet against Shaquille O'Neal and Jade Cargill on the 3 March episode of Dynamite. The promotion will be hoping that using a mainstream star like Shaq in this role will put extra eyes on their product - and that said eyes will stick around afterwards as well.
