The wrestler formerly known as Kassius Ohno plans on returning to professional wrestling when the time is right, despite keeping a low profile since being released from WWE as part of the promotion’s mass cuts on 15 April.

Ohno, who has reverted to his old ‘Chris Hero’ ring name, posted the following to his WrestlingGenius subreddit:-

“Oh and, before anyone asks or infers, I am far from done wrestling. If I wanted to hang it up and coach/produce I could have a job tomorrow. I’ve turned down a number of companies in the last 6 months- not because they’ve been terrible offers or anything but because I’m just not ready. I will come back when the circumstances and situations are right. Trust me, it *kills* me to not be out there doing what I love. The time will come and when it does it will be spectacular. In the meantime, I appreciate all of your patience. Take care & stay safe!”

Hero had been with WWE for over three years at the time of his departure. He was in his second run with the promotion, having previously worked Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT between 2011 and 2013, seemingly parting with the company on “good terms.”

An acclaimed indie run followed, as Hero returned to the scene that made him famous in the first place. 2016 was a particularly strong year for him, with Hero entering huge performances against opponents as diverse as Zack Sabre Jr., Marty Scurll, and Tomohiro Ishii before agreeing to terms on a WWE return that December.

Hero had been working NXT UK at the onset of the global health crisis. His last bout was a United Kingdom Title contendership battle royal taped on 7 March.
