Update On Rick Boogs Following WWE WrestleMania 38 Injury
The latest on Rick Boogs, who injured his knee in WWE WrestleMania 38's first match.
Rick Boogs was injured while making his WWE WrestleMania 38 bow last weekend, hurting his knee as he and partner Shinsuke Nakamura challenged SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos on the Saturday (2 April) show.
The injury was bad enough for the match to be cut short. A hobbling Boogs was helped to the back by WWE officials, leaving Nakamura to finish the contest alone. Later, WWE announcers confirmed that Rick's injury was legitimate - if it wasn't already obvious from referee Ryan Tran throwing up the dreaded X signal.
It was later reported that Boogs would be sent to Birmingham, Alabama in order to undergo knee surgery. This has now happened.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson notes that Boogs has gone under the knife for a successful procedure on the torn quad suffered at WrestleMania. He will soon leave Birmingham to return home, starting the rehabilitation process.
There is currently no word on how long, exactly, Rick will be out of action. Typically, a torn quadriceps will take at least four months for a full recovery, with six months likelier, though it can take longer in some cases.
